Requirements
To use MobileIRESS for Blackberry you will need:
- A valid IRESS account (username, company and password) with MobileIRESS login enabled.
- A Blackberry Java based handset (with a minimum handheld software version 4.1, i.e.
4.1.0.XXX) either connected to a BES Mobile Data Service or able to connect to an
GPRS internet access point. (To download the last version to support version 4.0
of the handset software click here.)
To upgrade software for your handset visit your provider's website blackberry support
section (Or visit blackberry support to find your service provider support link.)
- MDS (Mobile Data Service) must be enabled for the users handset, or a TCP internet
access point must be enabled and specified for the handheld. for more details see
transport options.
- If using a BES server the machine hosting the BES Mobile Data Service must
have visibility, only for outbound connection, to machine mobiledf.iress.com.au
on port 6080 (or mobiledf.iress.ca
on port 6080 for Canadian users).
- The IT policy for the handset must allow third party applications ( this means the
property "Disallow Third Party Application Downloads" of the IT policy must be set
to FALSE ).

- NOTE: MobileIRESS for blackberry will
not work with any BES plan where the BES MDS cannot be
configured to support outbound socket connections to mobiledf.iress.com.au:6080.
However if you can get access to an internet GPRS access point through your service
provider you will be able to use MobileIRESS through direct TCP/IP regardless of
if you are on a BIS or BES plan. For more details see transport
options and enquire with your solution provider to ensure that it is possible
to run MobileIRESS with your service.
